JUNE MEETING - A Note from Our Incoming President

Hello Everyone,
First off, I’m thankful for all that Celeste has done for the Chapter for the past two years. Thank you Celeste and enjoy your Past President position. I hope everyone will come to our June meeting as I will have literally just returned from the National Convention in Phoenix. I know I will be bubbling with excitement from it, and want to share it with all of you. I would also like at this meeting to give you some idea of the direction I would like to point our Chattanooga NAWBO Chapter. Therefore, we will not be having a speaker, but rather a discussion/planning session for the coming year. I am really looking forward to everyone’s ideas, comments, concerns, etc. at this meeting so we can take all this information, digest it, and have it producing something everyone in the Chapter will benefit from. Please make sure to make your reservations for our June luncheon.

Sincerely,
Robyn M. Cummings President

President's Column
By Celeste Friend

Hello Ladies!

My goodness, I blinked and two years flew by! My term as president ends this month so I am taking a moment for reflection. A review of the last two years includes:

  • Our membership ranks grew by half. This was one of my major goals.
  • Another accomplishment of which I am extremely proud is NAWBO’s sponsorship of the Pearl of Promise Scholarship last year at the Chamber of Commerce Nautilus Awards.
  • We committed, at that time, for this year to sponsor the Stargazer Award for a non-traditional student, which will honor Jane Cozby Henderson, Chattanooga’s first female business owner.
  • We have a stable meeting location with a very nice venue.

I want to thank everyone for your support these last two years. Additionally, I have had a fabulous Board that provided:

  • Great programs (thank you, Mary Robertson) ·
  • Wonderful membership recruitment and support (thank you, Julie Bestry) ·
  • Astute mentorship and tech support (thank you, Pat Egen) ·
  • Excellent administration (thank you, Katrina Chesney) ·
  • Careful accountings (thank you, Deborah Wooten) ·
  • Technical expertise and prompt newsletters (thank you, Laurel Bowen)
  • True competence to keep us moving in the right direction (thank you, Robyn Cummings)

And speaking of true competence, we have a great Board in place for next year of Robyn Cummings, President, Katrina Chesney, Vice President, Tina Player, Treasurer, and Sheri Fox, Membership Chairman.

Y’all will do a great job – we’re lucky to have you! Thank you, again, to everyone. It has been a privilege and an honor to work with you and represent you in the community. Sincerely,

Celeste

If its been awhile since you've clicked on the website, you'll find that there is a lot of new stuff here. One thing I've found useful is the SmartBriefs newsletters. Right there on the front page, they list current articles. There's always something that inspires me. Being a girl geek from way back, I was interested in the article about the new upcoming girl geeks and how geekdom has changed. But you might be interested in the article on doing less to succeed more. Sign up with your email address and the newsletter comes twice a week to your mailbox. Think you already get too many emails in your inbox? Try it a week. You can always unsubscribe. But you might just find the inspiration you need.
