It's not something most of us like to think about, but learning how to help people deal with grief, or learning how to help ourselves will be the topic of our August meeting. Meg Beene is from Hospice in Chatanooga. In the meantime, here is a list of books on the topic. Bereavement at Work: A Practical Guide. Charles-Edwards, David. London: Duckworth, 2000. We?ve been having some fascinating NAWBO Programs, thanks to Mary Robertson. And our chapter has been adding some excellent new members, thanks to Julie Bestry. For those of you who haven?t been able to attend a meeting in a while ? you are missing a great opportunity to network with people who understand your issues, make suggestions, perhaps provide some help, or just empathize. Put the NAWBO meeting on your calendar and attend! We are still looking for people to be in Master Mind Groups. They will start in the early fall and could be very beneficial to all involved. Please call or email me if you are interested in being a part of a group. Have you heard that NAWBO is sponsoring the Pearl of Promise Scholarship for the Nautilus Awards? With the very kind and generous support of Custom Services Inc. and Advance Paper Company through our Corporate Partner Program, we will be awarding a $2500 scholarship and a laptop to some lucky recipient. The requirements are that nominees must be high school female seniors in the Chattanooga MSA who plan obtain a college degree in a non-traditional field. Visit the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce website at www.chattanoogachamber.com/Nominations for more information and to nominate deserving students. We will also be announcing at the Nautilus Awards Ceremony the establishment of a scholarship for a non-traditional student with the first to be awarded in October, 2008. This will be for a female, 25+ years old, possibly a single mom, who has the desire to improve her situation (there will also be maximum income guidelines). NAWBO plans to be the annual sponsor of this scholarship (and will even provide mentorship to her) through our most generous Corporate Sponsors Custom Services Inc. and Advance Paper Company. Once we begin the non-traditional student scholarship in 2008, we will not be able to sponsor the Pearl of Promise unless we can find another Corporate Sponsor. Perhaps one of our members would be interested in doing this or knows of a business that would? Please contact me if you have any ideas on this subject. Make today a great day!
